  Go to Access Solution

The extended enterprise consists of remote branch offices, mobile workers, telecommuters, and work extenders (staff needing occasional access from home). In additional, the extended enterprise also includes external organizations such as your customers, suppliers, and partners.

The Extended Enterprise Challenges

Companies were once defined by their physical dimensions: the size of the corporate head office or the number of branch offices. However, that is no longer the case. Today, the enterprise perimeter is boundless. Enterprises are defined less by their location than by their reach. The perimeter is no longer the neighborhood or the geography served, but by the economic reach of corporate information. This network of information defines what we call the extended enterprise.

Extending meaningful applications and information to the extended enterprise has become increasingly critical - and increasingly complex. With user and corporate economic productivity at stake, the access solution for the extended enterprise needs to be ubiquitous: able to securely manage multiple access methods (dial-up to broadband to Wi-Fi) as well as multiple devices (laptop to tablet PC to PDA). However, ubiquity does not imply sameness. The solution must also support role-based access while controlling costs and reducing security risks.

Our vision is to help companies implement a role-based access solution for the extended enterprise that is secured and that offers the performance, manageability and high availability vital to mission-critical business operations.

AMA has developed a simple and easy access solution roadmap called "CHAMPS". CHAMPS is based on the International Standard Organization (ISO) network management model. It identifies 5 critical factors that an access infrastructure must have in order to deliver consistent services for users to have a simple way of accessing meaningful company's resources beyond the traditional office boundaries - from anywhere, on any device, over any connection using a standard web-browser.

These factors are:
  • Communication
  • High Availability
  • Management
  • Performance
  • Security

All of AMA's solutions and professional services are designed to address the needs for each of the CHAMPS elements.
